We had seen many travel programs about Georgia and were in awe of the outdoors locations and monasteries. We were put into contact with our agent through Evaneos and booked a trip with ease. We gave a brief description of what we would like to do and our timeline and our agent came up with a perfect itinerary. We had a 5 day tour that encompassed Tbilisi, Stepantsminda, Juta, and Sighnaghi - with stops at various points of interest in between.
The best parts:
We loved both Aleksandra’s breadth of knowledge and Nodar’s expertise behind the wheel. The various monasteries and outdoor activities were exactly what we wanted to experience while in Georgia. Juta was a highlight for us though! Beautiful and peaceful.
The worst parts:
I would say there were no bad parts, really. Only slight source of discomfort might have been lodging in some towns, but this was based off the parameters given by us to Visit Georgia.

Tamta and Luka provided excellent planning and support and we would have no hesitation in recommending VisitGeorgia. We spent almost 4 weeks travelling around Georgia starting with a few days on our own in Tbilisi. We then travelled along the Georgian Military Highway to the High Caucasus mountains and then to Borjomi (via Gori and Uplistsikhe). We then visited the cave city of Vardzia before travelling through the Zekari pass to Kutaisi where we spent a few days exploring the surrounding area. Next it was time to return to the mountains this time to visit Svaneti. This was followed by a few days relaxation at the Black Sea resort of Batumi. We then headed to the wine growing region of Kakheti where, after sampling the local produce, we returned to the mountains once again this time to explore the Tusheti region. Finally we returned to Tbilisi via amazing Davit Garegi.
The best parts:
Our driver Giorgi was wonderful and became a very good friend. The scenery in Georgia was spectacular - particularly the snow capped mountains and flower filled meadows in the Caucasus mountains. We loved the drives to Tusheti and Svaneti and through the Zekari pass. We enjoyed the beautifully located churches and monasteries (especially Davit Garegi). We had some great accommodation and the food was always plentiful and tasty. Most of all we loved the hospitality of the Georgian people.
The worst parts:
There wasn't anything that we disliked about our trip and were sad to leave beautiful Georgia.

We had wanted to visit Georgia after hearing about it from our nephew and then I researched it. At that point I contacted Khatuna and between us we agreed 2 two day itineries with her providing some extra suggestions which were great. We had numerous emails and she was very patient dealing with all my queries! We spent 3 days in Tbilisi on our own which was our choice and worked well. Highlights were Gergeti, Davit Gareja ( quite a climb which we managed, although I hadn't realised the walk along the ridge where the caves were would have quite such a drop and tested my dislike of heights - Georgio was very encouraging and I was very glad to have done it), the home stay and lunch at the fruit farm which my husband as a fruit enthusiast loved. We enjoyed finding out so much about the country from Georgio.
The best parts:
It was excellent and well organised by Khatuna. Georgio, our guide was great - he was very informative and good company and we learnt a lot about Georgia, the people, history, geo politics, customs etc Nico, our driver, was also very good and felt quite safe! They couldn't have been more helpful. The road from Gudauri to Kazbegi was blocked by snow the evening we arrived and not opened until after midday the following day. However, Georgio was determined that we would get through despite it having put us far behind schedule for the day. Instead, they took us to a cable car for the morning, which we took to the top of the mountains and had a coffee, and then we eventually got through to Kazbegi after midday. This meant they both got back to Tbilisi 3/4 hours later that evening than expected. It was greatly appreciated by us as the hike to Gergeti was one of the highlights of the trip. Georgia is very beautiful and the people very friendly - we highly recommend it.
The worst parts:
Nothing.

Solo
Georgia is now in my top 5 countries! The guide and driver were excellent, especially the driver who went out of his way to engage with me as a solo traveller. The trip had really been tailored for me and my needs and I really appreciated this on paper and then experiencing it. For example, my budget could only stretch to basic accommodation but the very best seemed to have been provided, likewise my days with a guide were limited but it worked very well.
The best parts:
It was a great experience: some stunning scenery, cool cultural sites, a nice balance of independence and guiding, plus such welcoming hospitality.
The worst parts:
The Stalin museum in Gori was a low point, v little English signage and not my thing.

Georgia is a wonderful , but little known country. The tour company staff were very hospitable , and made us feel as if we were part of their family, we felt so much 'at home'. We had a personal driver and tour guide. Both were fluent in English , knowledgeable, caring , and helpful in every way. The tour company staff met us at the beginning of the trip to discuss the programme and to answer questions, and at the end of the trip to hear our impressions. We ate local food, which was delicious, as was the famous Georgian wine. We stayed in 3* hotels, which had clean, adequate, self-contained rooms, and friendly, helpful staff. Only negative point about the hotels was that often the mattresses were rather softer than our backs were used to ! We travelled to a lot of different places , (Tbilisi, Ananuri, Kasbegi, Gori, Borjomi, Uplistsikhe, Rabati, Akhaltsikhe, Vardzia ,Bodbe, David Gareja, Sighnaghe, and Mtskheta), which not only provided fascinating insights into the history and culture of Georgia, but also provided a chance to see lots of the beautiful Georgian countryside. I would say that for people who have walking difficulties, the cave complexes at Uplistsikhe and Vardzia would be very difficult. On our last day in Georgia, there was a bomb attack in Istanbul Airport, and as we were travelling home via Istanbul, we were concerned about cancelled flights. The tour company staff, the driver, and the Tbilisi hotel staff all checked and kept us updated on the flights. At our request, we travelled to Armenia. This was facilitated by the Georgian company with their Armenian counterpart. We were taken by private car with an Armenian driver. The border crossing both ways was straight forward (and took about 15 minutes). The programme in Armenia was well thought out (it included Haghpat, Goshavank, Yerevan, Echmyadzin, Zvartnots, and Sevan - all within three days). Unfortunately the driver's command of English was rather poor, and not being provided with a guide, meant that we were not able to get the most out of the places we visited. We were in Yerevan on a Monday, when most of the museums are closed, so the 'Yerevan City Tour' was cut short (although I would recommend including the Train Station, which was not on the itinerary !), and we arrived back in the hotel at 14.30. I had suggested that since we had time over, we could travel to Ararat (around 40 km distance from Yerevan), which was apparently vetoed by the Armenia Tour manager (whom we neither saw nor spoke to !). We also didn't visit the famous Vernissage market, as it was not on our driver's 'Yerevan City tour list'. The Capital Hotel in Yerevan was fine -a bit far from restaurants and the city centre, but the staff were friendly, and helped us with taxis. On the third day, the driver dropped us back at the Georgian border where our Georgian driver collected us (and we were glad to 'be home again'). The countryside in Armenia is spectacular, so if I were ever to go to Armenia again, I would include lots of walking, maybe fewer churches, and a driver and/or tour guide who can speak English and explain about the sites we would visit. All in all, we had a superb time in Georgia, and are really grateful to the Georgian tour company staff for giving us an unforgettable holiday. We will certainly recommend them to friends and family in the future.
The best parts:
Excellent, well-planned and well implemented trip by friendly, hospitable, and competent staff.
The worst parts:
Armenia counterpart organisation was not up to the standard of the Georgian organisation.
