The birthplace of the Minoan civilization, Crete is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean.

My suggestion:
There are many sorts of beaches in Crete (for tourists or more secluded, sandy or rocky), so find out and choose according to your preferences.
My review

Considered to be the island of the gods for the ancient Greeks, Crete is the most southerly land in Europe. I found it incredibly beautiful and I loved the kindness of the inhabitants.

There are few forests and rivers in Crete but I was particularly impressed by the olive groves, a green mantle covering the majority of the island and which counterbalances the arid almost African climate.

Crete is a wonderful place for doing nothing and the beaches are heavenly, a fabulous finishing point after all your visits during your trip to Greece. As for landscape, my favourite was the Samaria gorge, a stone maze of more than 16km with a depth of 300 metres and a width varying from 2 to 250 metres.
