The GR20 is a difficult trek that is known to walkers from all over the world. It crosses Corsica, from north to south, or the opposite, in 15 days of intensive walking. But seeing the sunset over the Aiguilles de Bavella, or the sheep on the mountain ridges, not to mention the unforgettable views of the sea - aren't these natural wonders worth the effort?

Patrimonio is a village located at the southern end of the Cap Corse peninsula. It lies close to the small town of  Saint Florent on the peninsula's eastern side.

I stopped off at Patrimonio during a trip to Corsica. This is a village famous for its wines, which have enjoyed a very good reputation since ancient times. There are several wine cellars in the town offering a range of reds, whites and rosés.
Because they are produced from grape varieties only found in Corsica – namely Niellucio in the case of the reds and Vermentino in the case of the whites – these wines have their own unique, distinct character.
I also tried a very unusual muscat, which was less sweet than those produced on the European mainland. When I visited the cellar, I learned that all the work in the vineyard is done by hand and no chemical products are used. In other words, this is organically produced wine. The people themselves are passionate about what they do, and happy to take the time to discuss and share that passion with you.
I took an assortment of wines with me when I left, but it has to be said that when you bring out a bottle of "Patrimoniono", it is really a taste of the holidays you are bringing to the table, no matter what the time of year!
