Our company is committed to ethical tourism and have to date built 2 schools giving access to education to over 600 children who previously did not have the opportunity to go to school in remote locations we visit during our tours. Ashanti African Tours have also established an eco-tourism project in one remote location we visit where we are actively involved in connecting communities to the conservation of their environment showing them the benefits through responsible tourism. Our company have built accommodation and a reception centre at a forest location we visit and donated this 100% to local communities. Tourist stay at the accommodations and pay fees to enter the forest with all the proceeds going into a community fund we have established for the locals. In return the locals are protecting endangered wildlife and have stopped cutting rainforest in this area. The next phase of the project is to introduce environmentally friendly farming to locals. In addition we always aim to use local establishments, employ all of our team on full time contracts, pay staff above the minimum wage, contribute to healthcare for workers and their families and we are also establishing a profit share scheme at one of the lodges we are building.
