An island archipelago off Airlie Beach, in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.

My suggestion:
If you want to explore the region to the full, then reserve a trip on a yacht for a few days.

One of my best memories of Australia. During trip to Australia, you real shouldn't bypass Whitesunday Islands. It's an archipelago in the heart of the ocean, bordered by the Great Barrier Reef. When you take a boat trip you'll feel like you are in the "Pirates of the Caribbean"!

You can admire the underwater plant and animal life while diving, or explore the other islands, and of course go to Whitehaven Beach. I really recommend you spend at least three days on the Whitesunday Islands, you won't regret it.

I personally spent 3 marvellous days surounded by the ocean and the islands. On the other hand, if you make a reservation on a yacht check beforehand how many people it takes and choose what suits you because they can take up to 20 people. If you want a more friendly atmosphere then choose a smaller boat.
