I strongly advise you to take plenty of water along with you and be prepared to be very patient. I struggled to withstand the onslaught of so many annoying flies, persistent on penetrating every orifice on my face. You may purchase a hat with a protective net from one of the vendors at the entrance to the site. It's a very touristy thing to do, but it is rather a good idea to buy one. Once you're kitted out, you're ready for any one of the exciting hikes around Kings Canyon. Ranging from 3 to 22 kilometres long, there are hikes of various difficulty levels.

If you want to go on a hike (with a guide, of course) to Kings Canyon, then it's best to leave early in the morning! I went during November, which is springtime in Australia, so it wasn't the hottest time of year. We set off on the hike at 6am and finished at 9am, by which time the temperature had already hit 40°C!
