The best time to go to the Azores is from June to September. Indeed, even though temperatures are pleasant all year round, it is quite rainy from October to April. Although it is possible to go as early as May, a month in which it does not rain much, we recommend that you go from June to September: when the water temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees ! Go and discover the famous Portuguese islands on a lazing the time away, discovery or whale and bird watching trip.

With close to 24 different species, the Azores are known for being one of the world's largest whale sanctuaries. Go and explore the Atlantic and watch the whales and dolphins around you. You can go all year round : in summer to come across spotted dolphins, sperm whales and baleen whales and in winter to encounter blue whales.

It is unthinkable to go to the Azores and not go horse-riding : it is a tradition over there. Explore the lakes and paths for the space of a horse ride: it will most certainly prove to be one of the most memorable moments of your trip. Whatever your level, you can practice this all year round, as there are many horse riding outings frequently organised. Still, it is best to go in summer to limit the risk of rain.

There are nine volcanoes still active in the Azores, but the islands are home to many more. You will thus visit many caves and find crater lakes and geothermal springs all about the place during your trip. You will have to be accompanied by a guide for most of these visits, and if you so wish, be introduced to speleology. You can go all year round, but it would be much simpler to go in spring or summer when the cavities that can be visited have fixed hours.

The Azores, or one of the world's best bird watching destinations... Here, you can observe different migratory species as well as sea birds. Perhaps you might come across an Azores bullfinch, one of Europe's rarest birds, or an Oceanite, also very rare. It would be futile to make a list of all the species that the Azores is home to: there are so many! Go, rather, to Sao Miguel or Graciosa, Terceira or even Flores and Corvo and discover them.
