This truly authentic little village is between Battambang and Phnom Penh. Few tourists, few people who speak English but loads of charm.
My suggestion:
A good place to visit if you want to discover rural Cambodia, far from the tourist sites.
My review
Pursat is definitely one of my best souvenirs of Cambodia. There are few tourists in the town, which means you can have a more meaningful relationship with the locals. I didn't visit anything extraordinary or particularly special at Pursat, but I spent a lot of time smiling at children and trying to make the adults understand me through signs and gestures. The best way to meet the locals is to walk along the river bank. Stop on the islet of Koh Sampov Meas. It's a park where the locals go to walk with their children.
I also asked how to find the railway, to have an unforgettable trip on the famous bamboo train, along the old railway line which was built by the French. Even there when I got on those bits of wood driven by a greasy old motor it was with the locals and without the tourists!
Finally, around Pursat you should visit the floating village of Kampong Luong. I never tire of visiting these different floating villages which are so lively and picturesque.
