Reviews of Preah Vihear

Sitting perched on a sacred hill 250 km from Siem Reap, Preah Vihear is not an easy site to reach. However, you won't regret the effort you make to get here.

My suggestion:
The site is the focus of bitter military tensions between Cambodia and Thailand. Check the situation carefully before coming here.
My review

Inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage, Preah Vihear is suffering the effects of the military tensions of which it is the focus. Few tourists bother coming here when visiting Cambodia. It's true that it's a difficult place to access, and in particular that confrontations between the Thais and the Cambodians have increased in frequency since 2008, causing several deaths.

Coming here without first checking the diplomatic and military situation is absolutely out of the question.

The going can be difficult on the way to the site, with the road long. However, I can definitely promise you that I didn't regret making the effort to get here. A trip to Preah Vihear is the perfect supplement to a visit to Angkor; and the reason the site is so cherished by the two countries is perhaps, and quite simply, because it is magnificent.
