From Sainte Anne des Monts, you can head out in all directions. The Gaspesie National Park has numerous trails through the Chic Chocs Mountains. The climb up Mount Albert, a 7-hour round trip, may wear your legs out a bit, but the breathtaking view over rolling plains, rocks and a glistening lake in the distance, makes every twinge worth the while! It was the most intense hike I did in <a href="/canada/holidays/places/2395-parc-national-de-la-gaspesie/">Gaspesie.</a>
 You can get up close to the local wildlife including chipmunks and rabbits...You may also spot moose - unfortunately I only saw their droppings! It's the only place in the south of Saint Laurent where you can see caribou. Plus you can hire canoes and go seal watching!
Before reaching Sainte Anne, you'll find Cap Chat with its huge wind farm as well as the red La Martre Lighthouse. Gaspesie is a peninsula in the Gulf of Saint Laurent, as well as the name of its highway - a great idea for a road trip. Sainte Anne des Monts is a stop in Gaspesie which will give you a good feel for the park without you having to venture any further.

During your Canadian tour Sainte Anne des Monts is the last chance you'll have to choose your direction. Either you'll need to head towards New Richmond, or towards Gaspesie and the coastal road that runs along the Saint Laurent.

Sainte-Anne-des-Monts was the first place we stopped at in Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine on our <a href="/canada/">road trip through Canada.</a> We went there in order to see and explore Gaspésie National Park. The town has a population of around 7,000 and is surrounded by small hills from where you can admire the beauty of the Saint Lawrence River. We stayed at an inn when we visited, where we had the opportunity to meet other tourists and get advice about where to head next on our tour. Evenings around the campfire and sunrises on the beach were a regular part of our stay in Gaspésie, which was one of the essential and unmissable destinations to visit on our trip. The chance to meet new people and discover new music is all part of what you can expect in Saint-Anne-des-Monts. I particularly liked the group Lemon Bucket Orchestra, who were touring the whole country! We went walking in the area around the inn, where there are numerous paths and trails along which you can explore and admire the wonderful forest and river scenery, with lies with the sea on one side and the mountains on the other.
