Dubai is all at once an emirate of the United Arab Emirates and the capital of this very emirate. The city lends itself well to a few days stop over to allow you to explore its modern exuberance and its traditions.

My suggestion:
Take the time to step off the beaten track. Dubai is not just luxury, modernity and madness. It's traditions, it's history and it's culture are well worth exploring.
My review

Prior to my stay in the United Arab Emirates , I had a lot of preconceived notions about Dubai , due, of course, to its politics, it's inequalities and the fact that it is a city made from scratch. These prejudices have often proved true and I still have a lot of trouble understanding this place, but I have found it to be a place worth seeing at least once in your lifetime, while on a stop over, for example.

An architecture fan, I took real delight in Dubai's buildings and skyline. Your wildest architectural dreams will be positively fulfilled, with, in particular, the highest tower in the world. The opulence was not really to my liking, but, in contrast, I really enjoyed leaving the well trodden path and seeing the city differently through its culture and history, thanks to various galeries, museums and the main visit of Old Dubai and its markets.

You must not miss an excursion in Dubai's desert either , to live through a unique and memorable experience.

Dubai is located in the north east of the United Arab Emirates. It is a city worth seeing at least once in a lifetime, be you an adventurer or a family on a trip.

My suggestion:
It is easy to get here from Europe by air. Favour the period between October and May in order to avoid the extreme summer heat.
My review

Dubai is the most highly prized destination of the Middle East . It's opulence and grandiose projects attract. What I would keep in mind most is Burj Khalifa, the highest tower in the world. To be able to admire Dubai from the 124th storey of the tower, you have to remember to book your tickets two to three months beforehand. The view from up here is breathtaking and allows you to admire the full expanse of the city, between sea and desert.

There are many renowned tourist spots to see, such as Atlantis hotel situated at the end of the artificial island of Palm (establishment open to tourists), or again the Emirates Mall with its famous ski run.

Numerous tourist attractions are also accessible just outside the city, such as quad and sports utility vehicle outings in the desert.
