Badami is a small town in the State of Karnataka, in the South of India. Known for its temples, it was the capital of the Chalukya dynasty.

My suggestion:
At the end of day when the sun is low in the sky, the light is particularly beautiful and brings out the red of the mountain. This is the perfect time to take some beautiful pictures.
My review

To me, Badami was a very pleasant surprise. The town is famous for its temples, which are carved right into the side of the mountain that dominates the surrounding area. There are 4 caves, each home to a sanctuary dedicated to the deities of the Hindu or Jain pantheons, overlooking an artificial lake, Lake Agastya, whose green waters contrast with the red of the mountain.

When you go for a walk around the lake, you will see lots of different colored squares and rectangles on the banks. These are women villagers washing clothes in the lake and spreading them on the shore to dry. On the other side of the lake, a temple ruin called the Bhutanatha appears to float on the water.

Finally, to get an excellent view ofthe old town of Badami, go to the temple of Malegitti Shivalaya on an outcrop in front of the mountain. To conclude your visit, you can go back down to the old town and go for a stroll through its narrow streets. A good destination for your vacation in India.
