Chilika Lake (India)

During my stay in India, a little side trip to Lake Chilika gave me a whole new perspective of the subcontinent. Mostly visited by Indian tourists, it's worth a visit! Despite the efforts of our boatman, we didn't see the famous Irrawaddydolphins. Nevertheless, we saw lots of birds. We also got to walk on a strip of land that separates the lake from...the Bay of Bengal!

Lake Chilika is full of beauty, and inspires travelers to contemplation.. This huge expanse of water stretches as far as the eye can see, and it would be easy to think that it's the sea that's unfolding before your eyes! The road from Puri to the lake passes through little villages and beautiful flamboyant rice paddies: this is all of the beauty of the state of Odisha!
