With its sad legacy, Hiroshima is a city located in the southern part of the main island of Honshu and which is a highly interesting destination for any person making a trip to Japan.

My suggestion:
Two days and one night there are sufficient to visit the city of Hiroshima. But I recommend staying a second night to have a whole day available to visit the island of Miyajima.
My review

I was certainly among the many travellers who apprehend visiting the city of Hiroshima but who are overcome by their natural curiosity to visit a place that is so significant in the history of humanity. Looking back, I really have no regrets about my visit and would encourage any future traveller to Japan to set aside a day to visit the city.

The main interest of Hiroshima is the visit of the great Peace Memorial Museum, which is particularly well-organised and incredibly moving, with numerous testimonials, photos and reconstructions that really help you understand what the population underwent after the explosion of the A-bomb.
Outside, I shall always remember the building called the dome, the last visual testimony of the effects of the bomb.

After this trying day, I highly recommend you offer yourself a pleasant culinary treat with the local speciality, "okonomiyaki", a sort of pancake prepared in front of you on a hotplate.
