The departure point for a journey to Jordan: Amman.

My suggestion:
Be careful with the opening hours of the sights that you visit: they often close very early.
My review
During your journey to Jordan, you are bound to spend a night in Amman, the capital city which is near the international airport. It's often the departure point for trips to Jerash or the south of the country.

Along with its Syrian neighbor, Damascus, Amman is one of the oldest cities in the world. As well as being the capital of Jordan, it is the port of entry or departure for the majority of tourists in the country.

My suggestion:
As capital cities go, Amman is pretty pleasant, but I would still prefer staying near the sights, rather than in the city itself. I recommend Jerash for visits to the north, and Madaba for the south.
My review
For my trip to Jordan, I had chosen to make a loop of the country, arriving in Amman and departing from there too. Even though it's not necessarily exciting, nor even inherently beautiful, I discovered a capital that operates on a human scale, and a city that is quite pleasant to wander around.
