Thatheng is a small town in the south of Laos which is one of the stopping places on a tour of the Bolaven plateau.

My suggestion:
If you are touring the plateau by motorbike I advise you stop the night at Tad Lo, rather than Thatheng, as the village is quieter and prettier - in brief nicer!
My review

After having spent the night in Tad Lo and looked at the surroundings, I arrived in the town at lunchtime so my first stop was at Thatheng market. There are lots of fruit and vegetables there, piled up in colourful pyramids, rice, dried fish...But I went for a tasty dish of grilled chicken leg with sticky rice and chili sauce. After a fairly quick meal and the purchase of a few provisions it was time to go on to my next destination.

Thateng isn't a particularly interesting town in itself but it's an important place to stop during a tour of the Bolaven plateau. If you are only doing the short tour of the plateau during your trip to Laos, you have to turn here to get to Paksong, the next big stage, about 50 kilometres away. If not then you go on as far as Sekong, 46 kilometres away.
