Rivière Noire is an extremely hot and dry district. It's located in the south-west of the country and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius, including notably Tamarin and Flic-en-Flac, where there are magnificent sunsets.
In addition, Rivière Noire delights both young and old with its beaches and other spots to explore. On my travels, I came across numerous travellers who had come to discover this part of Mauritius as a family and, as for me, I loved the place for the richness of its heritage. Indeed, you can find there: the Tamarin Falls, the famous Seven Coloured Earths (Chamarel) and its rum distillery, Benitiers Island and also the Black River Gorges National Park. Each of these places deserves a visit.
