The Khustai National Park is a protected natural reserve, which means that although you're not allowed to camp wherever you like, there are yurt camps where you can pitch a tent. There's an information centre at the entry to the park, where you can also enquire about guides and horse treks. The scenery is exeptional and, if you're willing to get up early, walk a while and climb some slopes, you'll get to spot a wealth of local wildlife. We managed to spot wolves and stags, whilst spending hours watching groups of wild horses. We avoided the well known waterfall, where Mongolian newlyweds pose for photos with cute little ponies against a sunset backdrop. That said, it could be an entertaining show... Nighttime in the Khustai National Park is an incredible cacophany of roaring stags and howling wolves! Do not miss this one out!
