Tamatert is one of the most isolated villages in the High Atlas Mountains, near the village of Imlil. Tamatert is located at a height of 1,800 metres above sea level.

My suggestion:
Tamatert is a place for lovers of travel off the beaten track.
My review

The most difficult thing about Tamatert is actually getting to it. I chose to take the route through the Asif n'Oufra for the view, but don't go there if the weather is stormy, the river floods and with the lightning in the mountains, it's too dangerous. The route is complicated, even in good weather, and you need to be very careful not to slip. Allow at least two or three hours of walking.

The village of Tamatert is pretty basic, but I did find some reasonable self-catering accommodation and guest-houses. You can leave from Tamatert to access the Toubkal refuge: the path is accessible. Then you can get back on the footpath that leads from Imlil to the refuge for two or three kilometres.
