The best time to travel in Slovenia
Slovenia is best discovered in the spring. You will hike and take a well-deserved relaxation break in one of the country's famous thermal spa. Ski enthusiasts will also be well served: Slovenes adore skiing. For this, go between December and March!
At a glance
The best time to visit Slovenia is in spring, when temperatures are pleasant and the landscape is in bloom. On the other hand, the country is crowded in summer, you will therefore avoid this time if you are allergic to crowds, unless of course you want to lounge around on the Adriatic coast. Lastly, if you are going skiing go from December to March. Set off on a discovery of Slovenia's superb scenery, its famous thermal spas or yet again its ancient caves.
Trip centred on Slovenia's thermal spas
What better way to relax than Slovenia's thermal springs? You will be able to choose from many relaxing and beauty treatments. Whether you are fond of massages or would prefer sea water hot baths, you will not be disappointed. If the country's most well-known thermal spa is Rogaska Slatina, you will find many others, especially in the eastern part of the country. You can go on a trip to enjoy these spas all year round. Offer yourself a well-being getaway in one of these cheap thermal spas in Slovenia.
Trip centred on the caves
Do not miss Slovenia's many caves, the most famous of which are those of Postojna. Admire its crystalline formations from the tourist electric train. Young and old alike will appreciate the sight of the cave's stalagmites and stalactites. You can also choose the Skocjan caves. You can travel all year round to discover these caves: in any case, it will not be over 10 degrees! Also take along a raincoat as there is a very high humidity level.
Trip centred on fauna and flora
Slovenia's fauna and flora are very rich and diverse. You will get a broad overview of this at Triglav National Park in particular. You will come across many deer, wild boars and chamois, even bears and lynx. You will also be able to encounter turtles here, and you will discover a unique animal in the famous Slovene caves: the proteus, an amphibian that lives nowhere else. Go preferably in spring in order to take advantage of the most pleasant temperatures in which to discover nature.
Sports trip
Do not miss going hiking in Slovenia. You can choose from Triglav National Park, the most famous, or again the Via Alpina if you are a good hiker. Go preferably in spring to indulge in hiking. Favour the period extending from December to March to go skiing, an activity that Slovenes appreciate. Lastly, you will also be able to go cycling as well as rafting: in this case, choose spring.
Festive trip
If there is one event not to miss in Slovenia, it is the international summer festival, where you will be able to enjoy a number of theatrical performances, as well as concerts and dance shows during the months or July and August. The cow ball, which celebrates the return of the cows to the valley and is held in September, constitutes one of the country's typical festivities. The ski competitions held in January and March are also worth the detour. In February, the arrival of spring is celebrated during the country's most important event. And why not attend the Christmas concert that takes place in Postojna's caves?
