Doi Tung is a mountain in the north of Thailand, in the country's Golden Triangle region. It is the site of both a temple and a former royal villa.

My suggestion:
Go for a coffee at the Mae Fah Luang Gardens. The coffee is grown in the surrounding area and is excellent, and the views from the gardens are magnificent!
My review

I got to Doi Tung quite early in the morning as it is quite a well-known destination and I wanted to make sure I could enjoy it before the crowds arrived. This was the first good idea of the day. It meant I was more or less the only person there when I visited the various sites and the atmosphere was incredible, especially at the Mae Fah Luang Arboretum.

I also recommend you don't miss the chance to explore the gardens of the same name, where enormous clusters of flowers of all kinds of colors grow, creating an almost surrealistic landscape of contrasting blues, reds and greens.

The temple at the top of the mountain, the Wat Phra That Doi Tung, was built in the 10th century and is said to contain Buddha's collar bone. Constructed in the Lanna architectural style, the temple is especially beautiful and there are impressive views out over the region from the mountain summit. This is an experience not to miss when visiting Thailand!
