1. Go and see the world's highest waterfall
Discovering the Angel Falls is an adventure in itself. The cascade is almost one kilometre high. It's impossible to stand underneath the waterfall due to the force with which it hits the ground. Go and stand behind it so you can cool off in its spray. It's located in the Canaima National Park. To get there, you'll need to take a small 4-seater plane and then continue your journey by canoe and on foot. This way, you won't miss a thing! You'll travel through villages and meet people who have little but who will greet you with a smile. You can also sleep in a hammock under the stars facing the waterfall. The sunrise and the rainbow that forms in the myriad of water drops is a unique show.
2. Discover paradise in Los Roques....
The archipelago of Los Roques is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 150 kilometres off the Venezuelan coast. It's a string of 360 islands and islets dotted in the sea like diamonds. The waters are turquoise, the sandy beaches are white, and the reefs are home to hundreds of fish and shellfish. It's a Nature Reserve protected by a large coral reef. It never suffers the force of cyclones and the colours of its lagoon range from emerald green to deep blue.
3. Travel along the Orinoco Delta to meet the Warao Indians.
If you want an extraordinary adventure, head to this vast delta. It's almost the size of Belgium and its canals form a huge maze. You'll meet the Warao Indians. In the Indian language, warao means "canoe master". You'll be surprised by how different their lifestyle is to ours. These people live in harmony with nature. You go through wild and exuberant fauna and flora. Travel along the canals and you'll see macaws, caimans, sloths, herons, scarlet ibis, morpho butterflies, toucans, freshwater dolphins in the middle of mangroves, palm trees and balsa trees with huge roots. It's a real timeless holiday!
4. Travel across the vast Savanna between the Tepuis.
To the east of Canaima National Park, which is situated in the south of the country, you'll find the grassland of the vast Savanna and the Tepuis. These are very old geological formations that rise between 1,000 and 2,000 metres above the jungle. They're known for being flat on top, like tables. It's a really unique sight. The vast Savanna has an area of 35,000km². It's rich in flora and fauna, and there are rivers scattered throughout. In the middle of the jungle, you can get about on foot and by canoe. You can also fly over the Tepuis in a small tourist plane. Seeing the Tepuis from the sky is a different way of discovering this beautiful region of Venezuela.
5. Climb one of the Andes' peaks...
The Andes have one end of their chain in Venezuela and lovers of mountains and snow-capped peaks will be able to find many tops to satisfy their cravings. Some peaks are over 4,000m high and Mount Bolivar, the highest mountain in Venezuela, is 5,000m high. Merida is located in the heart of this region. It's a bustling city known for having the world's longest and highest cable car which goes all the way up to Espejo Peak, over 4,000m high. You can go on excursions which are reserved for experienced climbers or you can go horse riding or mountain biking. You will be charmed by these beautiful landscapes and the region's atmosphere will seduce you.

The best time of year to visit Venezuela is from December to April, during the dry season. In the wet season, the heat can be suffocating and there can be lots of rainfall, making visits to the Amazon rainforest trickier than usual. The lowland areas, by contrast, experience little precipitation. You can therefore visit these places at any time of year.
