Humahuaca is a small town located in the wonderful Quebrada de Humahuaca valley in northern Argentina. It lies on the road to Bolivia around 100 kilometres north of Jujuy. The area around it is very beautiful.
My suggestion
The town is famous for its carnival, which takes place at the beginning of Lent. If you plan to visit at this time of year, you'll definitely need to book in advance: tourists flock to the town in large numbers to see the festivities.

Humahuaca is a town in northwest Argentina. Located in Jujuy Province, it lies at the site of a magnificent mountain gorge. This is one of the essential places to see in Argentina!
My suggestion
Try to get to Humahuaca at the beginning of August, when celebrations in honour of Pachamama (a Mother Earth goddess) are held; or in February, when the northern carnival takes place.

Humahuaca is at an altitude of 2,936 m and is the last tourist stop in the province of Jujuy, before arriving at the Bolivian border to the north.
My suggestion
During your trip round Argentina you should spend several nights in the province of Jujuy. There, you are in the middle of the most spectacular scenery in Argentina.
