Nyaung Shwe is a town and tourist destination on the shores of Lake Inle. It's the point of departure for your trips in its magnificent surroundings.
My suggestion
Even if the town is tourist-heavy and the restaurants and hotels are adapting accordingly, hire a bike and go for a ride. Some districts are still home to typical scenes of life.
Nyaung Shwe is a little haven of peace located at the side of Inle Lake!

This peaceful village doesn't have much of interest to offer, and it's only by getting a little away from it that you get to discover a new side to Burma.

If you go out at daybreak to eat breakfast in the colorful, perfume-filled market, make sure you then rent a bike and head to Kyaung Shwe Yaunghwe, a monastery with oval windows, where the young monks are happy to give you a personal guided tour!
