Reviews of Nay Pyi Taw

Naypyitaw is Burma's new capital. It may be the capital by name, but in reality it's bland and undynamic. It's a ghost town.

My suggestion:
There's nothing to see in Naypyitaw. What's more its neighbourhoods are really spread out and there's no town centre to speak of. Taxis are few and ridiculously expensive. The best way to get around is by motor-taxi.
My review

Don't waste your time by visiting Napyitaw during your holiday in Burma. There are no tourist attractions and the 'local life' is non-existant. The roads are deserted and the hotels empty. There are a few shopping centres, if you're bored. Naypyitaw will appeal to anyone who likes ghost towns or wierd places...

The only potential tourist attraction is the Uppatasanti Pagoda, but it's a replica of the famous Shwedagon de Yangon Pagoda. So, therefore, not worth the effort. If you're bent on going there, don't do so during the hottest hours of the day, as the floor is burning hot and you have to be barefoot for the visit. You'll find white elephants in front of the pagoda - a rare sight but they're in chains.

There's also a zoo, but the animals are not well looked after, so best give it a miss.
