The famous stepped pyramid, a must-see for history or archaeology enthusiasts, and for those who have dreamed of seeing the pyramids from an early age!

My suggestion:
People go in flocks to see the stepped pyramid at Saqqara, built by Imhotep. As with most places in Egypt, at least the archaeological ones, I strongly recommend the guided visit.
My review

I only spent a few hours in Saqqara when I was visiting Cairo for a week, just the time to visit the pyramid complex.

I must confess that I was disappointed at first; since I was little I had dreamt of this trip to Egypt to see the pyramids, and just before seeing the pyramid at Saqqara I had the opportunity to admire some at Giza. So, this one, surrounded by high walls, along with the sand and heat, seemed smaller than I imagined.

But the visit to the complex in Saqqara is worth it! Pharaoh Djoser's tomb was the first pyramid to be built and it's also the oldest stone construction in the world! It's sometimes difficult to appreciate that you're in front of this monument, this tomb, which has stood thousands of years; it's something which makes you feel dizzy, anyway!
