Frozen desert and polar bear in Greenland

Right at the top of the planet, to the very North, your trip to Greenland will be the opportunity to discover a far away land which accomodates unique flora and fauna.

Geography

Here is an absolutely unique and fascinating destination. During your trip to Greenland you will be able to discover the second biggest island of our planet just after Australia. Its surface area is 2,175,600 kilometres squared. To be more precise, we must distinguish between the 341,700 kilometres squared of land and the 1,833,900 kilometres squared of ice. Greenland is literally surrounded by several seas, the Labrador Sea, the Davis Strait, Baffin Bay, the Nares Strait, the Lincoln Sea, the Wandel Sea, the Greenland Sea, the Denmark Strait, and the Irminger Sea. The largest city in this immense land is Nuuk, situated on the tip of a length of coast of over 44,000 kilometres. If you do a complete tour, you'll pass by Cape Morris Jesup in the North, Cape Nordostrundingen in the East, Cape Farvel in the South, and Cape Alexander in the West. Then you have looped the loop. The highest peak in Greenland is 3733 metres tall, Gunnbjørn Fjeld.

Fauna and flora

Even if the flora and fauna that you can find here throughout your trip are not very diverse, the local climatic conditions mean that what you do see will be highly fascinating.

As for the flora, the landscape consists of an immense tundra where you will find yourself surrounded by grasses and moss. The only trees you will be able to admire are birches, willows, white and Sitka spruces, larches and pine trees.

As for the fauna, you surely already suspect that the polar bear is the king of the place. It is the polar bear who is the master here. Observing the polar bear will definitely remain the most beautiful moment of your trip. You will also see seals, whales, hares, foxes, caribou, reindeer, walruses, and several species of bird.
