What to put in your suitcase when travelling in Greenland

The least we can say is that taking a trip to Greenland is an extraordinary thing. The country isn't one of the world's most classic tourist destinations. If you've chosen to go there, it's because you already have an extraordinary amount of adventurous spirit and an inexhaustible thirst for discovering faraway lands.

You'll need to pack clothes in your suitcase which are sufficiently warm and thick to combat the icy and Arctic cold you're going to come across there. A really warm and thick jacket, thick woollen jumpers, long-sleeved T-shirts, a good hat and matching scarf, a pair of gloves, sunglasses to protect against the reflections of the ice field and really thick, chunky socks should absolutely find their place in your suitcase. Take your flip-flops on the next trip; Greenland may well be one of the first victims of global warming, but you'll still need good shoes which will keep your feet warm.

In your first-aid kit, take basic, classic medicines to relieve everyday aches and pains. Also take lip balm and a sun cream. Don't skimp on the protection factor and opt for total sunblock. The sun, cold and wind are perfect allies to inflict sunburn and chapping on you.

To bring back souvenirs of this unique and incredible trip, take a camera or a camcorder with you. You'll also need enough memory cards to store everything. To treat yourself to a dive below the ice, forget once and for all the neoprene jumpsuit which you used for surf lessons in Biarritz last summer. You'll hire the appropriate equipment on site to have an unforgettable experience.
