Must-see volcanic open-air thermal baths near Xela.

My suggestion:
Try to go there during the week, as the place can easily become packed with families at the weekend.
My review

Built on the orders of the dictator, Jorge Ubico (1931-1944), who named it after his wife, the Fuentes Georginas spa provides a moment of perfect relaxation which is just as lovely for those travelling to Guatemala as for the locals, who go there in large numbers at weekends.

The last time I went to Fuentes Georginas was by car, with my wife and mother-in-law. But you can catch the bus to the foot of Zunil Volcano, from where the pick-up shuttles leave. The trip provides a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountains and the path which snakes between the very fertile fields on the slopes of the volcano, where the farmers work.

Bungalows are available, with their private thermal baths. I strongly advise against jumping into the water without checking its temperature first: in particular, one swimming pool (the one which receives water from the volcano) is so hot that you could really cook an egg. You should enter with care and don't stay in there too long: the cool shower available is really welcome. Furthermore, I recommend the walk on the paths which are located after the pools, in the heart of the profuse surrounding vegetation.
