Damaraland is really an interesting region of Namibia. Rich in archeological remains such as the rock paintings of Twyfelfontein and also in natural sites like the petrified forest or the Vingerclip rock which are astonishing places, I really liked its variety and contrasts.
What I surely liked the most in Damaraland , though, is the presence of desert elephants. Elephants that have longer legs, who roam free in the heart of this barren desert. It took us a few hours with a guide to find their tracks, but the sight was worth seeing. The animals live in an environment that is completely different from the savannah of Etosha National Park. A great lesson on how nature can adapt to its environment!
