The Lowveld faces the Highveld, the highland plateau of Mpumalanga. It extends over the entire Kruger Park and right up to the border of Swaziland, at Barberton. It's a subtropical region where, obviously, the weather is warmer and savannah is the main form of vegetation. At Nelspruit, incidentally, I visited the Lowveld Botanic National Garden, which keeps a record of every plant species of the region.
Apart from the road that runs along the Kruger Park from White River to Hazyview, so beautiful and practical for entering and leaving this immense park, anddriving across the region to go from the Kruger Park to the Durban region or into the mountainous areas of Lesotho and Swaziland, I see no point in stopping in this area.
Don't forget you can see the famous Great Escarpment separating the Lowveld from the Highveld quite well (the northern part is prettier). On the other hand, in the southern part, the heat is appalling in summer and the landscape is fairly agricultural (especially between Nelspruit and Barberton). Contemplative lovers of open spaces will be satisfied nonetheless.
