I highly recommend you visit South Africa's wildlife preservation centers and here you'll see cheetahs on their home territory. Hoedspruit is also a convenient base for visiting Blyde River Canyon.

My suggestion:
Don't forget your binoculars, fill up your water bottle and get ready for some amazing experiences! This area's also great for teaching kids about the importance and fragility of South Africa's ecosystem, as well as environmental issues in general.
My review
During my vacation in South Africa, I opted for something different when staying in Hoedspruit : a tree house in a private game reserve. I fulfilled my childhood dream! Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge has several tree house designs that blend in beautifully with the immense trees. From the height of little, nicely furnished balconies, I was able to watch animals wandering around below (no maneaters, fortunately!) and witness the most amazing sunset over the mountain. Other lodges let you stay in safari tents whilst on your vacation in South Africa - an unforgettable experience that even Karen Blixen would envy!
