Its the incredible diversity that sets KwaZulu-Natal apart from other areas in South Africa. From sunny beaches to high mountain peaks, huge game reserves to traditional Zulu villages. It's awesome.

My suggestion:
Hiking in the Drakensberg or water sports on the Sunshine Coast? Why come here? I recommend you spend several days here, so that you can enjoy all that's on offer.

During my trip to South Africa I spent a lot of time in the amazing region of KwaZulu-Natal. The biggest selling point of this Zulu territory is it's incredible diversity - a perfect reflection of this 'Rainbow Nation'.

The Kwazulu Natal region is a mass of pastoral scenery and Zulu culture.

My suggestion:
Travel during the day and with your own means of transport. It would be a shame to miss the extraordinary landscape that separate the main points of interest in the region.
My review

I chose to spend a month in this reason as it offers possibilities for adventure and discovery The places that I would recommend most are: the Drakensberg mountains, the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Reserve and the surrounding area of St Lucia village. The road network is dense and well maintained. I didn't have any problems finding my way and I appreciated crossing through green scenery sprinkled with multicoloured Zulu huts.

The Kwazulu Natal is incidentally a great place to discover the Zulu culture. However, I didn't like the reconstructions of villages at all, they welcomed entire buses of tourists. I thought they resembled a "human zoo" where the people caricature their own traditions. If you wish to meet Zulus and learn a bit about their culture, it is enough, for example, for you to go to the terrace of a café to chat with the locals.
