Not far from Sossusvlei lie the canyon and dried up river of Sesriem, it is possible to go on a lovely hike in the heart of the canyon whose ochre colours change with the orange of the sand dunes situated not far away from there.

My suggestion:
Though the Canyon is an opportunity for a lovely walk, if you lack time there is nothing exceptional about it, whereas the Sossusvlei dunes are really worth lingering at!
My review

It is better not to make Sesriem Canyon, located at Namib-Naukluft Park entrance, the first stop , but to keep this visit for the end of the day, as the timing is tight to travel the 28 ml of road and arrive at the first dunes at sunrise.

That is what I did and on coming back from Sossusvlei, I left my car in the parking lot and took off on a roughly one and a half hour walk in the heart of Sesriem Canyon . The canyon is not all that wide and so I could admire the rock formations, it is a very different sensation from the view on the huge Canyon Fish River that I had visited previously, during my stay in namibia , in the South.
