I went to Donsol for a once in lifetime chance to swim with whale sharks. If you're lucky you'll also get to see dolphins, flying fish and other exotic marine animals.  Sadly I only partially achieved my goal. After searching for three hours, we dived once and only managed to catch a glimpse of the dark shadow of a tail in the depths of the ocean. I was not only disappointed, but annoyed with the way the expedition had been organised. There were only four of us in the boat (which can take up to 30 passengers during the high season) and despite the 'one boat for each shark' rule, there was a heap of noisy vessels circling the animal. For me this was unacceptable and irresponsible - certainly not the right way to approach a wild animal in its natural habitat.  Respectful and responsible deep sea divers are better off heading to the Manta Bowl, which is within easy reach of Donsol. Here'll you'll find a stunning aquatic world, complete with manta rays, thresher sharks and magnificent whale sharks.
